Revelation: An Image-Rich Ancient Book of Comfort

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalpyse is a scene in the book of Revelation. Artwork by Pat Marvenko Smith. There has always been an infatuation with the book of Revelation. Full of vivid and perplexing symbolism, this book has been interpreted in various ways since it was first circulated among the seven churches in Asia Minor. If you were alive in the first century and a member of one of these seven churches, what do you think this book would have spoken to you? To the uninitiated modern reader the imagery is often read in a very literal way. To the ancient reader the imagery spoke with power and brought understanding and comfort in the face of persecution. Today, we debate more about the smaller issues of the book which often blur our attention to its major themes. What is the prophetic word of Revelation for today? There is one and we will share that message with you in this study.

I invite you to join us. There's NO COST to join this study. Just fill in the information below. BTW: We do not share our eMail list with anyone, so it is safe with us.

Here's How We Will Study Revelation Together

  • Each Saturday, I will eMail you the lesson for the week. Then you can read the Bible passage and use my notes to help you understand the text better and read the questions to interact with the text.
  • These lessons are presented in a blog format. You can respond to the questions in each lesson using the Comment section below the lesson. That allows you to comment as well as read other's comments about the lesson. I encourage you to comment as often as you wish to do so. There are some guidelines for using the Comment section. At the bottom of the comment page there is a check box, if you click it you will receive an email to alert you that someone has made a comment. It is my hope that you will use this opportunity to focus on "living in God's EPIC Advanture."
  • Each lesson will have an audio presentation that sums up the lesson. Some who learn better from hearing than from reading only find this helpful.
  • Then on Saturday, I will send you the next lesson.

Why don't you sign up today — and then encourage some of your friends to sign up and study along with you. Go to the Sign Up box below and leave us the requested information.

You will receive the first lesson on the next Saturday after you register and each Saturday thereafter until its conclusion. There is no cost to participate in the study, though donations are encouraged so I can create more studies and reach more folks just like you. We respect your privacy and never sell or rent our lists. Please do not sign up for your friends; let them decide for themselves.
